Poland Warns US Arms Shipments to Europe Could Face Delays
“There is no information at this moment about delays, but we are analyzing the situation very carefully,” Kosiniak-Kamysz said in an interview with Polish radio station RMF FM.
The minister explained that any escalation in the Middle East could place additional pressure on defense industries, which are already operating near full capacity due to the ongoing war in Ukraine.
“Polish, European and American defense industries must switch into sixth gear,” he said. “The Western arms industry must go into full alert mode.”
Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized that the United States remains Poland’s primary security partner and supplier of advanced military systems, including missile batteries, aircraft, and armored vehicles. He also noted that global demand for weapons has surged since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
“Equipment is being consumed not only by the US but also by its allies in the Persian Gulf,” he said, warning that any major conflict involving Iran could further strain production capacity.
Poland has pursued one of Europe’s most ambitious military modernization programs, placing significant orders for US systems such as Patriot air defense batteries, HIMARS rocket artillery, and F-35 fighter jets. The country has also acquired large amounts of equipment from South Korea to rapidly strengthen its armed forces following Russia’s invasion.
Kosiniak-Kamysz highlighted the challenge facing the defense industry in balancing existing commitments to European allies with emerging demands from conflicts in other regions.
“If tensions escalate in the Middle East, Russia could also benefit economically,” he added, noting that potential disruptions to oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz could drive global energy prices higher and boost Russian revenues.
